Sci-Bono is a great destination for a family outing.
Getting the family to leave has never been easy, and I've had to drag the children (and adults!!) away on every visit!

The dozens of exhibits encourage kids to get their hands on the controls and learn about the sciences through, amongst others, pressing buttons, pulling levers and flipping switches as well as operating "conveyor belts", pushing wheelbarrows and "constructing buildings"

I cannot speak highly enough of the place, which is the largest scientific centre of its type in Southern Africa.
It is situated in Johannesburg's cultural precinct of Newtown.

The exhibits are very hands-on, and allow the kids to get up close and personal!

The Centre offers a really fun, 2 hour long birthday party, for children between the ages of 3 and 12, in a special birthday party venue.

Your get your own dedicated party co-ordinator and a free entrance for a maximum of 50 guests.

The kids all get a guided tour of the centre as well as a 15 minute science show.

The birthday child gets a free, science related, birthday gift.

Lots of fun is had by all!

The Sci Bono Discovery Centre runs a number of Science Shows, Workshops, Science and Technology competitions, Career Expos as well as a school holiday programme.

The school holiday programme costs a few additional Rands for the "equipment" used, but is really awesome.

Amongst others, kids get to build wind powered cars, water bottle rockets and a pop-pop boat and sit in on the disection of a shark!
