Parktown North
Accommodation

Parktown North accommodation is fairly limited in a suburb that was proclaimed as a township in 1903, far north of the dusty mining town of early Johannesburg, and north of the suburb Parktown, where the Randlords (the early entrepreneurs who controlled the fledgling gold mining industry) built their mansions.

The suburb is very central, and close to most development nodes in Johannesburg.

The City, as well as Rosebank and Sandton - where most of this decentralisation has taken place, are all close by.
The suburb is close to both the Witwatersrand and Johannesburg Universities as well as the Rosebank Hospital and Milpark Hospital.

The Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, home to Dabulamanzi - one of the country's biggest canoe clubs, on Emmarentia Dam, as well as Delta Park, with its Conservation Centre, Bird Hide and Children's Playpark, are both close to Parktown North accommodation.

The Rosebank shopping precinct, with its African Market and the city's most popular open air craft market - the Rooftop Market, has a number of shopping malls and plenty of restaurants.

Rosebank has its own Gautrain station, linking the suburb with OR Tambo International Airport as well as Pretoria.

Parktown North, with its own restaurant ethos, is close to Parkhurst, Greenside and Melville – all with their own restaurant cultures.
