Johannesburg Urban Mountainbike Adventure
I wouldn't normally put up an event like this as a "thing to do in Johannesburg", but the Hollard Johannesburg Urban Mountainbike Adventure (JUMA) which took place on Sunday the 12th October 2014, was a world first, and a great initaitive for the city!!
With sponsorship form Hollard Insurance, money was spent assisting City Parks in upgrading park facilities and infrastructure, and improving the area along the Braamfontein Spruit, which in the long run, will not only benefit cyclists, but all other Spruit users.
All labour on the improvement project, which included a general clean up of the Spruit, was sourced from the displaced persons living along the Spruit.
The Hollard Johannesburg Urban Mountainbike Adventure (JUMA) event, offered two distances - a 52 km or a 22 km ride through the heart of the biggest urban forest in the world . . . Johannesburg!
I was a spectator, not a cyclist, and took a couple of photos at a few different spots.
