Car rental Johannesburg is almost inevitable as the city has a geographical surface area much the size of Greater London, but with virtually no public transport!
Not having wheels can be a real inconvenience for those needing to get from point A to point B, or those wanting to do the tourist sights
Johannesburg has grown rapidly, and the extensive road network system is really best suited to those who have their own transport.
Whether youre looking for car rental Johannesburg or Johannesburg car rentals, Johannesburg car hire or car hire Johannesburg, there are numerous rental options available.
These are as diverse as the big multi-nationals and local budget car rental companies.
On offer is everything from a top of the range luxury vehicle to a "rent a wreck", and from one days rental to monthly car rental!
As the majority of visitors arrive by air, the most convenient collection point would be the Johannesburg airport car rental companies at the OR Tambo International Airport.

Getting back to the lack of public transport!
Locals do understand, and are sympathetic towards the situation, so you could try to charm your friends or work colleagues into playing taxi for you, but there is of course, no guarantee it'll work!
Metered taxis are a more expensive and less convenient alternative.
If you plan to go on a tour, then obviously you'll be collected and returned from where you are staying.
Another option would be to rely on the thousands of privately run mini-bus taxis, which zigzag throughout Jo'burg, and permeate every part of the city.
These "taxis" are the closest we get to a public transport system, but it's an option I'd be hesitant to recommend, unless you're an adrenalin junkie!
