Acorns on 8th
Acorns on 8th, a 4 star self catering accommodation, is situated in the highly sought after and up-market suburb of Parktown North, with its beautiful tree-lined streets, local shops and burgeoning pavement cafés.
The survey, which looked at the top suburbs in the major centres in South Africa, was done in conjunction with two leading South African Estate Agents - Pam Golding Properties and Seeff Properties.
Parktown North came out tops, and was nominated as Johannesburg's most desirable suburb - both as a place to live, and as a place to invest!
The accommodation on offer at Acorns on 8th is either a garden cottage - which sleeps 2 in a king sized bed, or two single beds, and an apartment - which sleeps 2 in a queen sized bed, plus the added option of a sleeper couch.
Established in April of 2004, Acorns on 8th has been a great success and constantly in demand.
Referrals have regularly been received from a top 5-star Johannesburg Hotel for self-catering accommodation; bookings received from a Middle Eastern Prince and the apartment has been used as a location for a MTN (South African mobile phone operator) TV commercial.
Acorns on 8th has also been the haven for a World Cup winning South African sportsman as well as being a home-away-from home for the cream of the South African legal system.
But, despite these heights, it's good to know that the relaxed and familiar environment has ensured that bookings have also been taken, aplenty, from people like you and me!
Parktown North and the surrounding suburbs are known for their numerous restaurants and pavement cafes, many of which offer a WiFi service.
A Shell service station with a 24-hour Shell Select shop is one block away and the trendy and fashionable suburbs of Melville, Greenside and Parkhurst, with their sought after restaurants and antique shops, just a few minutes away.
The garden cottage, which caters for 2 persons sharing, opens out onto an attractive and tranquil indigenous garden with a large pool. The heavily curtained private bedroom has an old teak double-bed, and comfortable wingback lounging chairs, a dining table with chairs and under floor heating, a TV with M-Net and satellite television, a Telkom landline with direct international dialling and a large amount of built-in cupboard space for clothes.
The apartment,, which can cater for a small family or group, opens out onto a spacious first floor balcony. The stylish bedroom has a queen-sized bed, under floor heating and ample cupboard space. The richly curtained large lounge has a sleeper couch for the additional guest, a TV with M-Net and satellite television and a Telkom landline with direct international dialling. A separate dining area provides a dining table and chairs. To sum it up in one word: space!
Both the cottage and the apartment each have a full, modern kitchen, which includes a microwave, a large fridge and a 4-plate stove with oven. Both are fully equipped with all the necessary kitchen utensils, and the basic everyday essentials, such as sugar, tea, and coffee, are supplied.
The cottage and the apartment both have a modern, en-suite, stylishly fitted bathroom, with under floor heating and heated towel rails. The cottage has only a shower, whereas the apartment has both a shower and a bath. The basic bathing necessities are provided in both units.
Parking is on-site and behind a remote controlled gate.
Rosebank, Sandton and Illovo, plus the Johannesburg CBD, are all a short drive away, Wanderers Cricket Stadium is over the hill, and the M1 highway is easily accessible.
A laundry and ironing service is available at an additional cost.
We deal with, and can arrange tours and transfers with various Government registered tour guides, and we personally have loads of information that we'd be happy to share.
